Planks

Daily writing prompt
Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

Planks, I think it is because I like the look and feel of wood, though it might be also from some 50’s black and white film where someone calls another person a “plank”, meaning they’ve done something silly. Either way it’s a nice word, unless you are a tree and then it’s an evil word.

The Fruit and Veg man

Daily writing prompt
Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.

The Fruit and Veg man at our local market is a complete stranger to me and yet the wonderful freshness of his produce excites me and has had a very positive effect on my cooking.

Bring it on.

Daily writing prompt
Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

Twenty minutes a go I made a cup of coffee with my Aeropress in order to sit down and listen to my favourite Podcast “Oh My Dog” with Jack Dee, Seann Walsh and the heroic Sara who produces it.

My coffee has cinnamon and cocoanut oil added to it , so it’s an energising drink which I’ve recently discovered and helps me when the podcast has finished to get up and do my chores.

The podcast was very funny as usual, with a brilliant dog named Olly ( I think) singing and also something about “end dumps”, which has nothing to do with dogs at all.

I’m now ready for the day.Bring it on! Good decison to start the day!

Do not Visit. (at the moment)

Daily writing prompt
What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

Never is a very finite result, one that life or nature may just take you by surprise and over-ride.

I, for one take comfort that in one lifetime I cannot “visit” every single place on Earth. Let us stick to planet Earth as if we look at infinity then it becomes more unlikely that anyone will visit Everywhere.

There are some places that for whatever reason look a bad option to visit, but it’s not always the place , sometimes it’s circumstances or people that are the problem and the situation may be transitory. Generally if there’s a Foreign Office recommendation not to visit then I wouldn’t want to , as it is probably dangerous.

Just being there

Daily writing prompt
Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

I don’t mean to exclude other people and it’s very tough if you don’t have family. To be honest just my family being there is enough. I know they’ve got my back. If you haven’t got family then look to build a family with other people without family.

Sitting on my settee

Daily writing prompt
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Ten Years doesn’t seem that long,

Who knows what can go wrong?

Lose my house, my car , my life,

Will war and misery still be rife,

Weird is as weird can be,

Perhaps I’ll still be sitting on this settee.

Different Days , Different Numbers

Daily writing prompt
What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Everyday things are everyday things. Except nothing is everyday is it? For some, washing their socks is exceptional. You cannot bottle happiness. Some days it would fill five pint milk bottles other days, well it’s dry and that is just that.

Learning is valuable

Daily writing prompt
Describe something you learned in high school.

Learning became valuable, there are certain teachers that had a constant influence. They were interested in their subject and wanted to pass on their knowledge. Also learning became an escape or indeed an escape route. Either way I learned to respect knowledge but not be overawed by it. Life is not a brain game, though it can be a brain drain.

One is not a solution

Daily writing prompt
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

Perhaps I should get a tee shirt with “One is not a solution” printed on it. Instead I’m replying to a dull uninterested computer automated prompt which has the advantage that it makes me use WordPress every day. We have a symbiotic relationship. “One is not a solution” and you can take whatever you like from that, I on the other hand have a good idea for a teeshirt.
