Oh I wish….

What’s a moment that made you realize you were stronger than you thought?

I wish I could be Popeye,

And stop a tree with one arm,

Muscles bulging

Stopping any harm.

Not that I want to be a hero

That would not interest me

Just being a cartoon,

Would be the thing you see,

Making people smile at the crazy things I did

And tearing off the spinach tin lid,

With gleaming teeth and a winning smile ,

Especially to win my  dear Olive in style,

And then there was that moment I feared ,

That reality unfortunately had me seared,,

To school and work I must go ,

To play my part in society,

And in one moment of clarity,

I realised ” strength” is facing reality

It quite took my breath away,

But it got  me through the day.

The secret of learning

How do you stay motivated when learning something new?

Never be embarrassed if you don’t understand something The likelihood is no one has taken the time to explain it properly,or didn’t really understand it in the first place and were therefore incapable of explaining it to you.

That is the secret of learning. Find something that works for you.

The motivation comes from that eureka moment where you realise that you’ve “got it”.

Though remember, you never stop learning

What’s a book that completely surprised you?

It’s the only modern book that I have read cover to cover and did not want to put down.So it surprised me as I very rarely can do that.

With Great Difficulty

How can you build a regular fitness routine?

With great difficulty, though perhaps we should be positive about what we do ;do ;and not what we  don’t do.

It turns out that having a dog results in the routine exercise of walking, they don’t really understand gymnasiums and hot yoga classes.

Overrated?

What’s a classic book that you think is overrated?

If it’s “Classic”, then is it really up to me who isn’t a big player in this World to say it is overrated?Sounds like my  opinion would dissipate into thin air and be lost among a cackle of protesting academics who know a thing or two about Classics.

To rate or berate, that is the question.

Who are some underrated people in history?

Underrated, well that is a pecking tall order.

History, who writes it ?And who decides what is important and worth noting.

The originators of our written records are not always motivated by the facts ,sometimes as in the case of a lot of Greco-Romano poets and writers it’s the story (fake news) or character assassination that is important.

So the underrated are the ones who were there, who lived through the stupidity and the skullduggery and somehow survived to pass their genes into the next generation.Surely they made us what we are today.

Perspective and Creativity

What are the biggest benefits of minimalist living?

No one knows all these answers yet we are bombarded by information.

Take a step back, remove the noise and understand what you do need to live.

Suddenly it all makes sense. Pare it back, turn off notifications and look at what you can do not at what others tell you,you cannot do.

There is hope and meaning in filling a kettle.

Animals

What’s a thing you were completely obsessed with as a kid?

My brother gave me a book one Christmas it was an encyclopedia of Animals.I gave it to his son years later  as he was obsessed the same way I was with animals.

It was a great book and I used to pick it up to read it and look at the pictures. That along with Jaques Cousteau was probably my main interest in life.

I once spotted a cricket in the grass and my dad said that I was a budding naturalist.I was very pleased with myself.
