After the rumble of the last dump truck had dumped it’s hardcore and left the field and the shiny new solar panels glistened in the hot sun ,on the acres of land allocated to them, to begin to generate much needed power. A nature miracle happened.
The San Joaquin kit fox is a native of California’s Central Valley and has been struggling to survive for decades, it’s natural habitat and food being eroded by human encroachment.
They have, however, found a quiet ,sheltered place among the silence and peace of the solar panels. The area is fenced off and thus excludes the larger predators and so the foxes thrive having a ready made food source (lots of voles and small animals to prey on) and also shelter underneath the panels from the hot sun.
The foxes have shown their natural behaviour as they roam around the large site,sleeping safely underneath the panels. Replicating their natural roaming behaviour.
Result. I’m only sad that this is in America and not in the UK , as I think we’ve decided on sheep to graze on the grass between the solar panels on our sites.
