If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion (like a Pokémon or fantasy pet), what would it be?
My immediate thought was Tamagotchi,
Which came into being,
When I was just a teen,
The ultimate plastic pet,
That never needed a real vet
It had to be fed, nursed and really loved,
Or into the scrap heap it was shoved,
It would look up at you with doleful eyes,
And smile if you gave it a nice surprise,
There were playground crises,
If you forgot it’s ricicles,
Regular meals were part of the ritual,
Even if they were only virtual,
I never had one and didn’t fall into the trap,
Their future was to become an app,
However, they took the Marketing World by
storm,
Some collected them as friends in their dorm,
The sad thing was they often died
No matter how much you tried,
It was really a clever ploy,
To make you buy another toy ,
