The crux of this headline is that it raises up the ghost of the bogey man of the fundamentalist, extreme Muslim who fights against Global Powers and is now part of history just as much Christian Extremism has become history. Gone but not forgotten.
The Muslim Cleric involved in this debacle made his comments many years ago.
In recent years he has helped a Christian girl in Pakistan when she fell foul of the Blasphemy Laws in her native Country.
Hence it was deemed appropriate that he be given an award for promoting ‘interfaith harmony’. Seems valid.
The award was given in good faith and it has done more harm than good, withdrawing it because of his historical comments
.The man had acted to protect a Christian girl,perhaps he would do more of this in the future ,perhaps not,now we will never know.
There was a saying when I was young ,
“Give a thing,and take it back,God will say What happened to that?”
Perhaps the Archbishop of Canterbury may have God asking the same question.
