“Dog, Know-It-All and Bark”

Daily writing prompt
Share a photo of your pet and tell us one thing that makes them uniquely them.

Apologies, but I cannot share a photo of my pet dog, as he’s demanding payment for every picture that I publish. Things recently came to a head when he appointed a lawyer to represent him and you know how expensive they can be.

I’ve no idea where he found out about instructing a lawyer or how he communicates with” Dog,Know-It-All and Bark”, but we’ve had numerous cease and desist letters oh and a charge per picture demand too. I’ve got to admit it’s not unreasonable , Β£5 / picture, but it’s the principle, and also knowing my dog , where will it all end? He already has first call on any bed, sofa or rug in the house. It took us ages to find a meal each day that suits his taste, beef mince and pig hearts today sir?

I should have spotted this coming, he used to move out of shot every time we were about to take a picture. I’ve got lot’s of pictures of his ears, his nose , one eye and when he is in a grump his bottom. Recently I’ve begun to think that this has been quite deliberate. When he was posed in front of some nice scenery , he would do a wee or even something more embarrassing . Now we know it was deliberate.

Ah, here’s the postman, oh and another letter from ” Dog, Know-it-All and Bark” in it’s posh envelope with little black bone shapes all over it . My dog has come down the stairs to watch me open it. Oh dear , it looks like the prices are going up and he wants a percentage!

“Well I’ll just use AI that will do! “

Oh dear he looks a bit disappointed!

I think I might have said this before

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I think I might have said this before,

So I hope you don’t think me a bore,

It was on my first Saturday job selling shoes,

That the boss said” this is something you’ll always use”,

Learn it by rote, it will save you heartache,

It’s unique to you and isn’t fake,

Lots of people will ask you for it,

To not know it is a real bummer,

It is your national insurance number.

To travel is to broaden your horizon

Daily writing prompt
What are your top 10 travel destinations?

To travel is to broaden your horizon,

To experience new things,

You may discover a new rhisome,

And philosophise about what the day brings,

My one proviso about all of that,

And the thing that makes me question travel,

Is just who will look after my cat?

And what will happen when the plans unravel?

Today travel is a Global Phenomenon,

A balance sheet of supply and demand,

The Professor wants to visit the grave of Agamemnon,

Your cousin wants to go to Ibiza to see the latest House band,

So many reasons to travel afar,

Never mind the fuel and pollution,

I’ll be first to the bar,

The scientists will think of a better solution,

To answer the question I don’t think there’s ten,

Life is a journey we travel every day,

It’s not a question of how many or how far , but when.

“The report of my death was an exaggeration.” Mark Twain

What is your favorite quote?

I do like this retort by Twain about reports of his being very near death.

In truth he drank like a fish, smoked like a trooper and preferredΒ  very fatty and salty Southern foods and lived until  a ripe old age.

Exaggerating your death , takes the finality out of it

Only one?

Daily writing prompt
If you had to give one life-changing tip, what would it be?

Once you start down the road of giving life-changing tips then you just can’t stop yourself.

Get up early,

Do stretching exercises,

Bake every day,

Take up cut flower arranging,

Buy seeds from Garden Centre,

Write Lists,

Try to do things in order of priority,

Understand your priorities,

Question yourself,

Question others,

You see , the possibilities are endless but only you can decide if you want to change your life. ( or indeed need to. )

No skill is basic

Daily writing prompt
What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?

To be able to do something to whatever level,

Is surely something to enjoy and revel,

Whether it’s making a drinkable cup of tea,

Or doing complex surgery of the knee,

It might feel basic to you,

But for some they can just gaze and stare,

In wonder that you take such care,

They may not be able to participate,

But for that there is no need to berate,

Each one of us has a role to play,

And our special skill to use each day

The Canterville Ghost

Daily writing prompt
Who is the fictional character you relate to the most?

Oh I would like to be dramatic and perhaps fill the air,

With wafts of forthright behaviour like Jane Eyre,

Perhaps though her time has passed,

Modern women are much more fast,

I could split my personality and jump the gender divide,

And pursue my worship of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide,

Forsooth that journey would be quite a ride,

I’m not sure everyone would be on my side,

I think today though I’m on a Gothic Dream,

For my choice I think is a bit extreme,

Who else could I be but for a day ,

But the unfortunate and forever young Dorian Grey,

As I’ve ended up on a Wylde note,

The character that would win my vote,

The one I really liked the most,

Would surely be the Canterville Ghost

A cause,a justification , or the power of logical thought

Daily writing prompt
Do you think everything happens for a reason?

Reason is a six letter word that can define philosophy or catastrophe.

Reason itself can be admirable or prove itself irrevocably wrong.

What I think doesn’t really matter. Reason happens because there’s a reason.
