I’m not the generous type,

That kindness trip is all just hype,

When I receive a gift,

It’s all mine! So get my drift,

If it comes in a box with my name on it,

Keep your dirty little mittens off it!

It doesn’t need to be the best gift ever,

In truth nothing lasts forever,

Chocolate, Tights a New Alarm Clock,

Or maybe my long lost matching sock,

Whatever it is just beware,

I ain’t the type to grin and share

Write about your approach to budgeting.

Is budgeting a thing? A thing of beauty or a thing of hard won discipline. Is it something we have to do or just want to do for the sake of an easy life. It’s not dangerous if we do, it but it can be dangerous if we don’t. You don’t need to be good to do it, bad people can budget too. I like to think as budgeting as a thing. A scary monster.

Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?

I finally am beginning to understand my feelings towards patriotism.

In truth jingoistic claims to superiority or alienating those who are have different beliefs to me do not fit into my view on patriotism.

I recently cried at our local town’s parade for War Remembrance as I saw people young and old marching up the street after leaving their wreathes at the War Memorial. I cried because we were all remembering those who have through many conflicts in the World suffered and died.

We were honouring their memory together and I felt proud of those who had taken the trouble to organise the event and also those who turned up on a Sunday morning to participate. I was only walking my dog.

I was moved and that spirit is truly patriotic.

Putting random Union Jack flags on lamposts and buildings is not patriotic and sends out a message of fear not honour. Flags can be dangerous.

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

To tinker with the Law is not good. Changing one law may well affect another down the line with unexpected consequences. So whether or not I had the power to change one law I just wouldn’t, because law has to be based on what a “society wants to achieve as a whole”. The Law should apply to everyone and therefore everyone needs to buy in to it. The power to change the law and how the law is applied needs to have independent monitoring and the law must be held to account if it appears , as sometimes is the case “An Ass”
