To be honest which of course I never am,
Our eyes met over opening a tin can,
There were lots of volunteers at the rescue shelter,
And I had to meet the Court Jester,
Of course it was funny to jump around,
“If you don’t stop that you’ll end up in the pound!”
Soon his head was in the bowl,
Not a morsel left and it was over too soon,
By then it was too late and I began to swoon,
I signed his papers in the afternoon,
I was his keeper and his mine,
And to this day both our hearts entwine.
