#HeadlineTherapy RSPCA’s longest-staying dog finds new home

Thanks to Emma Stanley and BBC Online News

I love this , because it shows how even dogs that are proving difficult to home can be found a match.

The dog named Delboy is a French Bulldog cross and was handed over to the RSPCA in a welfare case. Delboy needed time and patience to trust unfamiliar faces , especially men.

Thankfully his new owners visited the rehoming centre ten times to get to know Delboy at his own pace. They had experience with other rescue dogs and were able to take Delboy on days out and have sleepovers at their home with him. They chose him because he needed a “home” and it has worked out. Delboy has even been on holiday with them.

A rescue dog sometimes needs time and possibly a foster home in order to regain the confidence they have lost through their past experiences, but it is worth the effort , as Delboy’s new owners have discovered.
