#HeadlineTherapy Denmark nurdles may be from Tyne spill, agency says

Thanks to Jason Arunn Murugesu and BBC Online News for the Headline

Nurdles are small plastic pellets which are transported around the world for use in industry by ship. Unfortunately there was a container spill and a whole load of them were released into the sea along the Coast of North of England. The clean up has been going on to remove them from beaches in England.

However, sea conditions in the North Sea and the circulation pattern of the sea has lead to the nurdles reaching Danish and German Beaches also. So the clean up of Danish and German beaches has started. Tragically it is believed that only 28% of the released nurdles have so far turned up, which means these plastic beads which en masse look very unsightly will turn up elsewhere or perhaps after circulating in the ocean will end up on the sea bed.

Plastic pollution in the sea can now be tracked with drones and also following records of spills and subsequent ocean movements.
