It’s sad that such a fantastic voluntary organisation as the RNLI which has people who dedicate themselves to saving lives should be sullied by the likes of Social Media mongerers with nothing better to do than promote the cause of isolationist nationalism that when push comes to shove costs lives of innocents as well as being numerically and factually incredibly misguided.
Let’s get back to basics , the RNLI will Rescue anyone who is in trouble at sea. 95% of these illegal migrants boats are dealt with by border control.The 5% that the RNLI deal with are genuine rescues that without the RNLI intervention would mean people would drown at sea..
The fact that the Port of Portsmouth and the Port of Southampton refused permission to the RNLI to disembark those people who had been rescued is despicable, eventually they were given permission to land at Eastney ,where anti-migrant protesters gathered and blocked access roads and damaged Police vehicles.
Presumably Social Media enabled this protest and indeed it was shameful how they gathered so quickly to target those rescued in such an aggressive manner Who leaked that the migrants would be landing at Eastney? Just a thought.
