For those of you not in the know HMRC stands for His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, they are responsible for Revenue Collection for the Public Coffers in the UK
Recently HMRC took it upon themselves to publish a list of Companies, mainly small businesses across the UK who appeared to have not paid minimum wage to one or more of their employees.
I’m unclear why they are doing this, they might like to claim it is for the benefit of the employee, they are neither an Employee Union or a Social Services Organisation
What they give with one hand they take with the other.Once the employee is above a certain threshold then whatever money HMRC say the employee wasn’t paid will end up being paid in tax anyway.
Various Politicians from Government Departments have praised HMRC for naming and shaming these “shameful companies”abusing workers. Some have fought back as in the case of this Campsite in Wiltshire explained the circumstances were that the employee needed accomodation for personal reasons and deductions were made.
Whatever the numbers, this was not an abuse of an employee who still works at the campsite
The truth is HMRC owe me money and don’t seem to be doing much to refund me.The last was a note to say ‘not to contact them ,that they were making calculations and the earliest I would hear would be October.Guys we’re talking last year’s tax!
So get off your high horses, the minimum wage is rubbish and cannot cope with the increased costs of living.Who exactly are you wanting to shame.Perhaps HMRC would do better to do their job and stop running Publicity Claims making themselves look like Robin Hood.He was a fake too!
