I started reading The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli to understand the World,
I’ve tried a a number of times to finish the book but only ever get through a third,
Then I have to put it down because it seems so sad,
Or maybe if truth be known because it’s just really bad,
There are lots of conniving tips on how to get ahead,
Though on an on it goes and gives me a sore head ,
To spend all your time trying to usurp your fellow man,
Seems pointless when everyone should be doing the best they can,
The fact the book was written at all is a mighty twist,
Though perhaps I’ll never really understand Machiavelli’s gist,
Maybe wicked manipulation wasn’t his theme,
Though the book is certainly a Politician’s dream,
Wickedness is at it’s core,
Actually I think it’s just a crushing bore.
