What’s the last movie that made you cry?
I’ll have to be honest and not digress,
My words are definitely not in jest,
Our local cinema has just closed down,
The town population wears a constant frown,
No one will giggle anymore at a Hugh Grant
rom-com,
Now Hugh himself thinks his future lies in a scary
house ,
Not a posh interaction with a middle class louse,
The heroine must escape Hugh’s religious fervour
or possibly worse,
Suddenly Hugh’s charm became a curse,
I loved the idea and would have loved to see
that film
But where or when do I watch it with
this Competitive Global Schism,
On Netflix,Freeview or by monthly subscription,
So my sad story is the film made me cry,
Because I’ll probably never see it before I die.
I wish Cinema could again financially boom,
And not that our only option is our living room,
Local Councils shouldn’t charge such a big
Business Rate,
Then set up roadworks that make you late
The building needs to be big to house the crowd
But “twenty quid a head” for crying out loud!
Let a night at the cinema become a joy again,
And let’s hear an audience’s cheer to the very end
