#HeadlineTherapy Investigation Reveals Thousands of Russians Fraudently Gained Romanian Citizenship by Descent.

Thanks to Moustafa Daly, IMI Cairo and Le Monde for the Headline

Fortunately Romania does not have a channel for people to cross in boats and look to gain Citizen rights in their Country. No newspaper headlines or promises of one to one exchanges.

They do however have a different problem caused by their descent laws.

As a remnant of border changes going back to 1918 ; territories which use to be part of the Kingdom of Romania that either due to conflict or as the result of the aftermath of World War Two; changed hands ; and are now either Russian satellites or indeed occupied by Russia.

The Kingdom of Romania’s territory between 1918 and 1940 included land that has now( under a Law passed in Romania in 1991), given the residents of those territories during that period the right to apply for Romanian Citizenship and subsequently entitlement to a Romanian Passport. Romania being part of the EU, this is a valuable asset to have. Giving freedom of travel and the ability to do business within Europe to the passport holder.

Hence , sometimes with the aid of crooked Romanian Officialdom, the addresses have been used of locations within “descent countries” and passports applied and given to Russian Nationals. The Romanian Authorities now estimate that over 18,700 citizens from the former Soviet republics have now registered under the “descent” criteria, with fake genealogy and using genuine addresses where they have never lived in order to obtain a Romanian passport.

I can’t help but wonder what was behind the “descent law ” that has been in operation since 1991, did Romania genuinely want some of the people they had lost back. Is there just simply not enough people in Romania and they thought that with a Romanian passport these people would choose to move back?

Sad to say , this admirable gesture has been abused by a criminal fraternity , advertising Romanian Citizenship for sale on the internet for thousands of euros, and in these instances the likelihood is that there is no benefit to Romania, indeed there may be harm.

Thankfully , the Romanian authorities have ascertained what has been happening and are now taking steps to prevent it , the” active citizens” did not appear in towns where they were registered and thus they are back to square one with their plan to embrace their population from the “Old Romanian Kingdom”

#HeadlineTherapy All the parts of England facing snow for 12 hours-and it will be 2 inches deep.

Thanks to James Rodger Content Editor at Birmingham Live for the Headline

Apologies to those of you in the World who have serious snow. As you can see by the headline, we in this part of the United Kingdom are worried at the threat of 2 inches.

This is genuine concern as there may well be a shortage of grit, the grit delivery lorries may be in for a service or in truth the drivers may have been made redundant having refused to agree to changes in their employment contracts which the local Councils have imposed in order to save money from already restricted budgets. There are always good reasons why things don’t happen.

So when you are stuck on the Motorway and your cell phone signal has stopped due to the cold weather be grateful that you were warned about this situation and you were told to travel only if your journey is necessary. Was it necessary? Do people just randomly hop in their cars and go somewhere without reason. Are they prone to snow blindness or just plain stubborn?

The article was a bit naughty really on two fronts. I think it was written to make me read the adverts and generate revenue and also the weather maps the journalist refers to say the worst snow will be in Ross and Cromarty which is in Scotland not England which might have ten inches of snow. So a mere two inches seems pretty miserly.

In truth there is no guarantee this snow will happen, I think actually it’s just something to write home about. Still “Snow Day” isn’t until the beginning of January when everyone will be going back to work after their holidays. Maybe they just want to depress us even further with the thought of having to scrape the outside of the car ( for those of you without heated windscreens) or topping up the windscreen wash in the freezing cold. Never mind having to fit winter tyres or snow chains as those in Serious Snow Countries do.

Oh well we shall have to wait and see.

Namaste and Thank You for Reading.🙏

#HeadlineTherapy Paragliders have lucky escape after landing near polar bear enclosure in Staffordshire

Thanks to ITV News Online for the Headline

What a surprise for the Polar Bears from a Wildlife Park in Staffordshire to have two paragliders careering down at them only to turn off at the last minute and miss the enclosure and land safely.

Penny for the Polar Bears thoughts. Their protests at the intrusion into their territory would be in Swedish as they were rescued from a Wildlife Park in Sweden after unfortunately it was closed about four years ago. So no one would have understood them, much as they probably didn’t understand the aerial intrusion. Unless they thought Christmas had come early and dinners were dropped in from the sky. A Polaroo…..

I can well imagine what the gliders were thinking. ” Jeez, we’ve got too close there’s no thermals here. We’re losing height, it was your idea to oggle at the polar bears for free!” Still any disagreements about their situation were postponed till after they had landed safely out of reach of a few tonnes of white furry claws and teeth. Their skill at maneuvering their fantastic flying machines were tested to the limit and thank heavens they didn’t land on any of the enclosures fencing .As this would have meant not only costly repairs but also a possible Polar Bear jaunt, hence the option of using a method that would probably give the bears a sleepy headache but otherwise keep them safe. Thankfully, there were rangers about with the necessary equipment so that they could anaesthetize the bears should it prove necessary. Although it would stop them from travelling , it wouldn’t have stopped them from having a paraglider lunch.

Thankfully the paragliders managed to divert and I hope the Peak Wildlife Park ask for a large donation for the inconvenience and also for the attempt at trying to see the polar bears for free.

Inn bans arrogant camper van visitors

Disclaimer:Yes ,I know Camper Van owners  are on the whole a lovely bunch, particularly the ones with small retro vans and the VW owners who are a pretty handy bunch having got used to their pride and joy breaking down regularly on the motorway……but….

Maybe it’s a brand thing, have you seen the size of some of those up market Pilote campervans. They’re just a large living room ,bedroom ,bathroom and kitchen stuck on a set of double axle wheels.

Very often bought for an early retirement plan, to travel to Europe and live somewhere cheap, the novelty soon wears off and the cost of diesel becomes prohibitive.

So it’s  tour  Britain  time, and things just aren’t as fine and dandy as they were a year ago when they originally set off.

The loving couple are at each other’s throats, the weather is rubbish and neither  wants to do any of the chores to do with maintenance and hygiene. The shower has broken, silted up from all the hard water.

Add to that the price of pitches have trebled and there is a  charge for waste disposal. So you find this nice hotel which is quiet off season and they allow you to park up.

Only one problem, though they want your custom for drinks and meals ,they don’t have all the facilities of a proper campsite. No septic tank, just a nearby river. You are stuck, the toilet is about to overflow, there are accusations of  laziness and good for nothing.

Your last bit of cash has been spent on a pub meal with no drinks as you have a stash of cheap wine from your last trip to France. You drank too much of it last night and your wife was sick on the Hotel’s patio and sitting area. You blame the food.

Still there are burgers and sausages in the freezer compartment of the fridge, which as you have no electricity and need to save your diesel for the trip home, you need to use up.This has another benefit both of you need to sober up for the journey home.Stodgey food will help.

The good lady cheers up and finds a nice spot behind the hotel protected from the breeze and starts their extravagant gas barbecue, which thankfully still has some gas left in the bottle.

The burgers are half cooked and the sausages cremated when a young man comes running towards the lady at speed, pointing at the hotels own gas storage area. There is panic in his face and then the manager appears.

Breakfast is ruined, everything has to be turned off and nasty words are exchanged. It doesn’t help that the manager looks foreign and despite the couple’s original wish to travel and see the World, they retort that he should go back to where he came from. The kitchen? He replies politely.

The Camper door is slammed and as they drive away an open rubbish bag thrown from the window .Which of course is blown to all four corners of the hotel car park.

So that ,my friend, is how the dream of the open road  sometimes goes.

Beware….

#HeadlineTherapy

It seems the first thing I do when I get up in the morning is check the News Headlines on my phone. Increasingly I’m beginning to think this is incredibly bad for me and now I realise my reactions to this bombardment must be managed. So each day I will take a Headline and create a piece of writing from it.

“Dessert Shop closes in Town Centre as New Store Moves In”

I remember walking through town about three years ago and there were very few retail outlets that were familiar, all the “brand” names had gone, but I noticed small delicatessen style independents, which looked very appealing and who sold cream cakes and beautifully decorated sponge cakes which looked delicious and very appealing to the eye. The presentation, preparation and hygiene( I assume, I did look for a five star environmental health sign but don’t remember seeing one); was I think impeccable.

I could see a problem though, who was going to buy them and who would make a trip especially into a derelict town centre to buy these delectable sweets , yet not have access to all the shops that you would normally associate with a Town Centre.

The above Headline brought the memories of that sortie into the town centre flooding back. The dessert shop would be replaced by another Phone Shop, an independent retailer who specialises in technology. Just what the Town Centre needs another Phone Shop. I suppose the good news the businesses are owned by the same man, and obviously the “cakes” didn’t work out so he’s moving back to what he built his orignal business with and feels will be more profitable.

It struck me how do these business’s afford the Business Rates, or perhaps small business’s get special rates? Whatever, Marks and Spencer’s didn’t think it was worth their while to stick around. However, a little technology shop that supplies whatever technology is needed by the people that use the Town Centre most of whom are now very much economically challenged. Is this a perfect match, I’m not so sure.

I suppose in some ways it’s just another form of “sugar” to titillate those who are deemed to be economically challenged.
