I do observe, but I could do more of it and do it better. I will not however beat myself up about it , but will enjoy the process.

I stepped accidently on a snail today, it’s been very wet here and there have been a lot wondering backwards and forwards on the paths. I heard the crunch and realised immediately what had happened. There was nothing I could do.
It was a sad sight, and although they are not the gardeners friend they are an amazing feat of physiology and engineering. That is a detail worth remembering, not with regret but with admiration.
The deceased snail will be food for something else and the calcium and other minerals from it’s shell will seep into the soil and will provide nutrition and structure to it.
