Of Course Hard Work Is Better than A Hard Shirk

Daily writing prompt
In what ways does hard work make you feel fulfilled?

Working hard is not a bad thing as long as it doesn’t kill you.

It’s madness to be obsessed by work and it will lead to destruction for either yourself or others

Work can be enjoyable and the thrill of achieving a goal particularly as part of a team is a brilliant feeling and should be recognised a such.

To work hard is so much better than shirking hard. We are only as good as our slowest team member and if that person chooses to do anything but the task they are appointed, then the hard work will feel a waste of time for everyone and the results will be much harder won.

If you are a hard worker and prefer or need to work alone , then that is your prerogative, but most achievements need a team, and it’s fun. A lone wolf worker obsessing is a danger to everyone as they lose their perspective.

As the great CS Lewis once intimated to his step son when the young lad apologised for interrupting his writing.

” Interruptions are good, it’s the interruptions that make life”,

So working hard is good and necessary some time, but we should always be aware of those around us and their part in our hard work.

Traitiness

What’s the trait you value most about yourself?

If a trait is a quality, then, from it’s  grammar definition , is it an adjective or some other grammarly term that is beyond me at the moment?

Please hold that thought ,I will investigate it later. Perhaps you already know the answer and you can advise me.

However , as I have many traits I value,I will have to say I value my traitiness. (Oh dear I’ve just had one of those horrible red line things).Never mind “Traitiness” it is.

Choreographer,Comforter and Storyteller

List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.

The two most irritatingly  economic priorities in the global western world.Writing lists and earning money are again the themes of the WordPress  daily prompt. My we are an aspirational lot aren’t we?

Still ,I have let the heavy chains of economic discipline go  and have floated to the surface of my tank and am breathing fresh air and here are my thoughts.

Firstly a choreographer, so I can encourage and develop fantastic dance moves and expressions of emotions and feelings through dance for everyone in the World.Make Dance not War would be my Brand logo.

Secondly ,Comforter,to everyone and everything in this World suffering pain and discomfort.A relief worker to make genuine relief possible.I suppose it’s a dream because there is only so much one person can do,so I think this job would develop into a recruiter of comforters, with the object of having a worldwide buddy system.

Thirdly,Storyteller, because we all need stories to get through the day.

Thank you for reading.

Namaste.

Not a Proud Culture Vulture

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

I am not proud,it’s not in my cultural background to have pride.Indeed pride,if not the actual sin of vanity ,negates my view that the best thing about my cultural background is indeed my ingrained belief in multiculturalism.

That’s not to say that my background ,environmental influences and genetics have not given me many interesting and valuable traits that inherently define me. Nothing wrong with that.

The most valuable trait is however the ability to accept and understand all the other cultures that exist and to respect them and in turn to gain the respect of other cultures by being respectful of their beliefs.

That is ingrained in me and makes me strong not weak. A vulture will pick at carrion for its’ survival, but carrion is dead.Culture is alive and kicking ;we should embrace it and respect it for what it is Culture.

James Joyce would not have been a fan of WordPress

Can you imagine Joyce trying to write a sentence in WordPress. He’d have thrown his computer across the room.

The rhythm of language he devised  would be ruined by the orange and blue lines and corrections indicating the errors in grammar or spelling.

If he’d have turned on the AI corrections for a laugh he would have been rolling around the floor in hysterics at the ridiculousness of the suggestions.

“Too many words!” It would say….

Advice

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

What is the difference between paid for advice and free advice and which one is best?

We are  a world where advice through multiple channels is available from what seasonal  plants to grow in your garden,to how to build a safe submarine,or indeed who to vote for.

Advice can be listened to or ignored, we have a choice ;I hope.Or are the advice algorithms eliminating that choice?

Let’s face it every loud mouthed nincompoop wants you to listen to them.

So ,with the current situation,I still go back to the best advice I was ever given which has come in handy multiple times throughout my life and that was to memorise my N.I. number.

Don’t Click On The Link

Whatever you do,never click on a link embedded in a comment or one that appears unfamiliar and is not from a known source.

I am puzzled as to what WordPress have put in place to stop this intrusion.Perhaps someone could let me know.

In the meantime my motto is.

“Don’t Click On The Link”
