Thanks to ITVX News online for the headline.
There is a 160 mile carbon capture pipeline that will go through areas in the Wirral that residents and local politicians are not happy about. The pipeline will transfer CO² from the Peak District to the Irish Sea and is part of the project for the government to reach it’s Net zero targets. The two sides are not really talking to each other.
I’m not sure if there is a guarantee to limit the effect on the environment or that the land and scenery in the area will not be affected. That certainly is a point for discussion. More importantly are net zero targets going to change in the near future and is the budget for this pipeline value for money.
The Government claims it will protect up to 13K jobs and could provide 50K new jobs over the next 20 years. The cost of the project is projected to be £5billion . I was wondering what they do with the CO² when it reaches the Irish Sea, does it just bubble into it?
AI generated image, hopefully the pipeline won’t look like this.
