The Chinese, Americans and Europe are now fighting for their scrap.
Aluminium is one metal that is very efficient to recycle and Europe does not want to see it’s scrap aluminium being sent abroad to be recycled( as it wants to meet it’s recycling targets) while at the same time using the existing capacity it has in it’s furnaces which are currently in danger of being starved.
Waste aluminium in the form of car bodies or white goods are not as good as aluminium cans which are more pure. The poorer grade waste tends to go to other Countries to be processed into better quality waste ( Malaysia and Thailand) which will then be accepted by China for their booming manufacturing industry.( Heaven knows what pollution Malaysia and Thailand are creating to clean up their acquired scrap metal.) Hence is this recycling just moving a problem somewhere else?
Either way the secondary scrap metal market is now becoming key to manufacturers and therefore suddenly recycling the humble tin can( good quality metal) is now critical to maintaining manufacturing industry in Countries who see manufacturing as an important element of their economy.
Let the tussle for resource begin.

Apparently “a peeve” is a Scottish slang word for having a lot to drink ,going on a bender or getting blootered, although I’ve not heard that myself, but it’s alternative meaning and the one that the daily writing prompt refers to is something mildly irritating or that causes you a minor inconvenience.
I mean I think it’s healthy to express an outlet of irritation , so my top three peevish moments at the moment are.
Packaging on products that are just designed to be impossible to open. Cardboard, plastic , glue and flaps that rip rather than open. Hidden pieces of tape or sellotape that are impossible to lift with your fingernail and you have to go and get a scissors which inevitably are blunt.

Zips on dresses that I can’t do up myself and the hubby is in the shower and I have to wait until he comes out to get the zip pulled up and then he acts as if he’s doing me such a big favour and I have to wait until he dries himself thoroughly so he can get a good grip of the zip. Irritating!

The Sky TV remote, the buttons are funny and rubbery and never seem to work first time.

Hope you enjoyed, Namaste and Thank you for reading. 🙏
Enfield has a library and these days should consider themselves very lucky. However, Enfield, surprisingly is in a “building conservation” area and 600 local people have signed a petition to say that the mural that has been placed on one of the outside walls of the library building is an “eyesore”. Added to that the Council omitted to obtain planning permission for it( which it now has retrospectively).
The mural itself is very bright, colourful and artistic having been designed with the help of the local school children as well as financed not by local taxes but by local developers who obviously do not have any problem getting planning permission.
The objectors have said that in a couple of years, the colours will have faded and the maintenance of the mural would be an additional cost. The Council representatives have said that there is a budget put aside for maintenance but that they will not tell anyone how much it is.
Is the mural nice or not, I’m not here to judge, but it does seem a bit selfish of the Council to decide on something without considering the local area and whether it fitted in to what after all is a conservation area. Why not celebrate the “conservation” element? The mural might have been better placed inside the building.

This incident happened in Western Northern California although with the number of Red Kites around where I live , it wouldn’t surprise me if one day it happened here as Red Kites are renowned scavengers.
The cat unfortunately hit the car windscreen from a great height ,breaking it and and falling off onto the road and fortunately not into the car. It was possible that the cat was already dead when it was dropped by the eagle as it might have been previously knocked over by a car , and scavenged by the eagle , but just proved too heavy to carry any further.
After ascertaining that the woman had suffered no injuries, the person who the lady was speaking to in the incident room checked if the cat was still alive. Unfortunately not, so no need to despatch animal welfare.
Red Kites are scavengers and probably could carry small prey , even a mouse dropped from the sky could do some serious damage.
Unfortunately the eagle never got a chance to enjoy it’s meal and probably had to keep on searching. Such is life for wild animals and it seems unsuspecting motorists. The cat I would like to think is in heaven.

Not sure I really understand what happened between 2012 and 2017, but a famous musician has been tried and found guilty of lobbying on behalf of both Malaysian and Chinese interests within the US for financial gain.
Others involved in the case have been let off with minor sentences, but Pras Michel choose to go to trial and was potentially facing life imprisonment. He has been found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
This sorry story involves amounts of money ranging from $4 billion US dollars stolen from Malaysia to $80million received by the rapper. These are large amounts and the story is simply mind blowing .I’m not even sure what these people were trying to achieve, apart from buying more gold jewellery, fancy cars and real estate.
Sometimes real life is stranger than fiction and lobbying from interested bodies to vulnerable politicians in all Countries has become pernicious and endemic.

Beaches and Mountain’s exist for some reason. So how can I , as a human on this planet and also part of a bigger Universe justify having a preference for one over the other?
They are both wonderful and inspiring and everyone should have access to their beauty without destroying their beauty and the habitat of those that live within their ecosystems.

Well done to local Swindon business woman who is also a mother for bringing into the fold a Goth option for Christmas at the local Swindon Steam Museum. What fun and it’s nice to include all sorts of unusual options for anyone who wants to browse and shop for individual ideas.
