Rain,Rain,Rain

Rain ,Rain,Rain

Do not fall in vain

Don’t flood the path

Like a sociopath

But make our day

And grow the hay

Do moisture magic

And water the lilac,

Let your droplets fall

And water us all,

For it’s been so dry

It made us cry

Rain,Rain Rain

You are  very welcome again.

Giant Snail Infestation

It was a fun news story some years ago when Scientists discovered that there had been a Giant Snail Infestation in Hyde Park in London, they were mainly located in the trees.

At first the infestation was  thought by the media as very funny. The scientists had reckoned that a Giant Snail breeder had released a number of species in the Park, perhaps due to overcrowding within their own collection.

At first no one would have even known they were there, but after about six months and successful interspecies breeding an invincible , leaf eating giant Snail became pervasive,

People gazed in wonder at the trees hoping to spot one of the creatures with their multi-coloured giant shells, who moved slowly among the green leaves ,munching their way through the undergrowth.

It wasn’t until one unlucky Snail spotter was killed by a Giant Snail that fell out of a tree and hit the man on the head that barriers and a warning sign were put around the trees.

By then it was too late, although the scientists had said that the snails would strip the trees of their leaves and that as an invasive species they would devastate other native species. No one listened

However the  birds liked to  stay clear of the snails  and left the area, the insects couldn’t cope with the giant slime trails left everywhere, sometimes they drowned in it, other times it hardened on their feet or wings and made it impossible to move around and they died.

The trees also began to die,as their leaves were stripped

Something had to be done, which indeed it was.The adults were easy to catch and destroy,it was the young that were impossible to identify, and everyone was fearful that they might escape the park,if they hadn’t done so already.

It turned out they had and unfortunately it became an ongoing problem with the Scientists having to do D.N.A analysis on snail’s throughout the Country to ensure that where a Giant Snail Infestation occurred that it was stopped in it’s tracks

Regular snail checks are now undertaken by the Government and volunteers to counteract the spread of the Giant Snail.

Should I Worry?

Looking back ,I’ve often thought I was a worrier and they say that to worry is bad for your health.

However,I think my worrying did me good,it was like a pre-emptive strike on life.

I can remember in my teenage years sitting  an exam, thinking this is a disaster ,I’ve done it all wrong and quickly redoing my work, scribbling out and fixing it as best I could.Weirdly I got a really good grade.Other exams I’ve thought I cracked it and I failed miserably.

I still worry about people I know and their health, I worry about my health,I worry about money,I worry about the dog ,the possibilities are endless.

And should the worse happen, perhaps my pre-emptive thinking will  ease the pain.I don’t think my worrying is a waste of time.I think it’s a way of working through a problem.
