I’m sitting in a field in Cornwall, having showered and had a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich.Probably not the best preparation for a wine tasting, but then again maybe it is,the salt will enhance the flavours.
The bottle was for a little celebration of Taskmaster series 18,we watched it in the recreation room at the campsite we are staying on and it was nice to share the laughs with an enjoyable and tasty Rioja
I had a smidgen left in the bottle which along with the memory of the flavours from last night will help me describe what I think was a very tasty red wine.
2023 was a good Year
First of all,I should thank the Londis shop in Goonhavern for stocking it.I like to buy European Wines and have a penchant for Spanish wines as we’ve travelled in Spain and Portugal, and I’m learning Spanish in order to speak it fluently. It is a great language.
The wine is described as cherry red and it was indeed a very attractive colour when I poured it It was at room temperature and what surprised me was it’s lovely fruity smell as it left the bottle,it was delicate and a pleasure to my olfactory senses.Raspberry, strawberry or blackberry I’m not sure, but it certainly enhanced the drinking of it
My first sip was when the programme hadn’t started,so I could concentrate on the flavours. It was smooth and fruity and absolutely delicious.Combined with it’s aroma the flavours, the wine said to me I’m very approachable and I think I will enjoy this programme too.
So it was easy to take another sip and let the high alcohol content (13%) do its’ work on my brain and sit back ,relax and enjoy.
To walk or run, easy peasey but for some it’s not a choice.
Actually for me,it has just struck me I can no longer run,it hurts my knees too much.I walk and feel incredibly blessed to do so and have discovered walking poles which means I can do long distances and get a full body workout at the same time.
For some who for whatever reason can’t walk or run,and have to get aerobic exercise some other way or indeed have their muscles stimulated to maintain tone.I’m curious how they feel about the above question. Please comment if you read this.
I read something about one of the Paris Olympic Games Torch bearers having a bionic suit to enable him to carry the torch.Sounds an exciting development.
Cohesive interaction between consenting adults makes a successful team.Where are we now with our managerial successes.I tell you up the creek without a paddle.
People who want to be Leaders are two a penny. The numbers who make it to Leadership positions are largely responsible for business failures.
People who can Lead and don’t want to are more common, but will rarely lead as they know that it’s a can of worms.
People who can Lead and are actually doing it are rare.
No one in their right mind chooses to be a Leader.
Is it a dereliction of duty to have the ability but choose not to be a Leader?I would say not,as a good Leader is sensitive to the environment and the need for guidance and knows when to intervene or not.The fact that their ability is not recognised is nothing to do with them.
Can leadership change within a group depending on circumstances and needs.Of course it can and there is no shame in that. In fact passing the baton backwards and forwards under changing circumstances should be regarded as a leadership skill.
Modern Leadership in the Private Business Sector (because that is what I am familiar with),has become a tick box exercise.Real Leadership qualities are not valued, but Parameters and Key Performance Indicators are.
A good Leader in the Modern Business Environment is someone who keeps all their KPI balls in a row and who produces reports on their balls on a timely basis.
The interesting thing is who decides what they want the figures to show and what effects it has on the working population. Is it Shareholders,Private Individuals or Government.? In their minds they are the real Leaders but they don’t do the dirty work, they just decide the goals and hoops others have to adhere to and jump through.
I am a Leader, though not a labelled as such. As in everything I do I make a difference, something that will improve whatever business I’m working in. That certainly involves interacting as a team member.
Am I happy, yes,I make a difference and help where I can, that is what a good Leader does..
Surely Peace must be everyone’s favourite word; and if not why not? It’s a five letter powerhouse of a word encompassing every situation in life and history. Endowing moments with hope and a future for everyone to benefit from.A great leveller and a respecter of life and resources.
I was just doing the dishes the old fashioned way in a bowl with hot soapy water, when my hand came across a soaked soapy piece of cling film.It must have been discarded on one of the plates and ended up in the washing bowl.
As I squashed my hands around the squidgy mess it reminded me (SQUEAM ALERT) of a used condom. As I held it up out of the soapy water I couldn’t help but give it a squeeze.Yes ,indeed the soapy fluid moved from one end to another.
So along with the “it’s only a slither of carrot, goldfish eating prank’. We have the OMG,it’s a used condom prank.
This could have many uses for potential pranks,my favourite would be leaving the said soapy cling film in the guest bedroom bed and seeing if they mention it,or indeed how they dispose of it.
We’re on holiday in Cornwall. We came back from a seven mile circular walk which included the Saint’s Trail to Perranporth, through the sand dunes and back up to Sunny Meadows campsite where we are staying.
We left at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon and arrived back at 7pm.We were hungry,so we popped out to the local shop and bought the ingredients for Meatballs and pasta in a tomato sauce.
I enjoyed cooking them and though my legs got stiffer as the evening went on, we needed sustenance and once we were able to sit down and eat,it was the best feeling in the World.
We spent the rest of the evening reading and tidying up and nodding off before bedtime.Good Day.
What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?
Is holding a gun to my head and shooting me; a personality trait. It’s the capability and the lack of remorse that is a red flag and I would know if someone has this capability wouldn’t I?
Otherwise, personality traits don’t bother me.As we all develop them and hopefully learn to give each other space.
If I had the time and was a talented artist,I would use the words in my title to make a picture of Clarkson drinking his cider(in the Coop) and looking miserable. Why, indeed has he decided to become a pub landlord?
Whatever, but I suppose I’ll just have to make do with this picture and its’ subtitle.
Jeremy was here
He’s already banned three public figures from his pub,but for what reason?
Simply because he does not agree with them. This is not a good enough reason to ban someone and I’m sure Clarkson knows that, but he’s doing it because he can,it’s a headline that fits his purpose. He has the money and the name to throw these wild punches, and he has a lot of people who listen to him.
I really can’t imagine an ideal week, too much can happen in a week An ideal minute yes,for good things have a momentary taste,an instantaneous celebration and then a warm glow
It’s a given,the warm glow may last all week,but there’s no guarantee.
Perhaps a week with a warm glow would be ideal, but I don’t idolise ideals.Just like perfection, idealism is a kind of hedonism which just doesn’t fit with my outlook on life.
